About the Opportunity

Varius has partnered with a well-established 3PL/logistics organization to recruit an Accounting Supervisor for their Finance team in Vaughan. This is a replacement role on an established, close-knit team where dependability and ownership are genuinely valued.

This is a role with room to grow. The successful candidate will start as Accounting Supervisor and, as they demonstrate strong leadership, accountability, and command of the full accounting cycle, there is a clear and realistic path to step into the Accounting Manager seat. If you are looking for a place where great work is visible and the next step in your career is within reach, this is it.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow, expenditures, and financial performance.
  • Help develop and maintain internal financial controls and risk management procedures.
  • Ensure government remittances are completed and filed accurately and on time.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Support and help lead month-end close, including variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Review aging reports, account reconciliations, and journal entries, and oversee payroll.
  • Contribute to financial reporting and support budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes.

Compliance & Audit

  • Support year-end reviews and liaise with external accountants, banks, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure financial activities are accurate, timely, compliant, and useful for decision-making.

Stakeholder & Operational Support

  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with internal departments (warehouse, IT, HR, marketing), vendors, customers, and banks.
  • Resolve financial discrepancies and escalations, and support team members as needed.

As you grow into the Accounting Manager role, you will take on broader ownership of the close process, reporting, internal controls, audit coordination, and team leadership.

What Success Looks Like

In your first year, success means month-end and reporting cycles running consistently and on schedule, stronger cash flow visibility, cleaner and more reliable financial statements, faster response times to internal and external stakeholders, and at least one meaningful process improvement or automation opportunity identified and put into action.

What You Bring

  • Solid experience across the full accounting cycle: AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Exposure to internal controls development, compliance, and audit coordination.
  • A dependable, accountable approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities.
  • Emerging or established leadership presence, with the ability to guide and support a small team.
  • CPA designation, or actively working toward your CPA.
  • ERP proficiency required; Sage 300 experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency (moderate to advanced).
  • Warehouse, logistics, or 3PL industry experience is an asset.

Tools & Systems

Sage 300 (ERP), Sage APA, ADP (payroll), Synapse (WMS), Sage Enterprise Intelligence, Microsoft Excel, and banking portals.
