Job Title: Assistant Plant Manager (Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering Background)

 

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hwy 410 & Derry Road)

 

Our client, a leading manufacturing organization, is actively seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Plant Manager to address a critical challenge: minimizing time spent putting out fires on the production floor. This role, based in Mississauga near Hwy 410 & Derry Road, calls for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in crisis management, process optimization, and proactive problem-solving, while also possessing financial acumen and expertise in engineering excellence, APQP, QMS, and EMS

 

Responsibilities:

 

Operational Crisis Management:

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to minimize operational disruptions and crisis situations on the production floor.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventive measures to reduce firefighting.

 

 

Process Optimization:

  • Utilize your financial acumen to identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement improvements.
  • Work closely with the team to establish streamlined processes that reduce the likelihood of emergencies.

 

Team Training and Preparedness:

  • Assist in training programs to enhance the team’s ability to anticipate and address challenges.
  • Foster a culture of preparedness and proactive problem-solving among team members.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address root causes of issues and implement comprehensive solutions.
  • Establish clear communication channels to promptly address emerging challenges.

 

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Assist in initiatives focused on continuous improvement, with a specific emphasis on reducing reactive problem-solving.
  • Implement tools and methodologies to monitor and address potential issues before they escalate.

 

Financial Acumen:

  • Contribute to financial decision-making, particularly in areas related to quality improvement and process optimization.

 

Engineering Excellence:

  • Apply your engineering background to optimize plant processes and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement innovative solutions.

 

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP):

  • Utilize your expertise in APQP to drive quality improvements throughout the production process.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to implement and maintain robust APQP processes.

 

Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS):

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of QMS and EMS objectives in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to quality and environmental management.

 

Strategic Growth and Development:

  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and implement strategies for the company’s growth.
  • Play a pivotal role in driving initiatives that will elevate the company to new heights.

 

Employee Engagement and Retainment:

  • Develop and implement programs to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Work towards creating a positive and motivating work environment to improve employee retention.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role, particularly in crisis management within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to optimize processes and reduce operational disruptions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Track record of implementing preventive measures to minimize firefighting.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of engineering excellence, APQP, QMS, and EMS.
