Role overview:

As the Chief of Staff for the GM, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enabling them in achieving their strategic goals and driving the overall success of the organization. You will help your leader achieve sharp gains in productivity and impact. You will help information flow, resulting in quick and calculated decision-making. You will help them prepare for critical meetings and become more confident in delegating because of your follow-up. Acting as the proxy for the CEO, you will enable frequent and clear communication and coordination across local teams and global teams we interface within the company.

You will do this by ensuring that your leader is:

• Spending enough time on the vital A items on their agenda.

• Focused on future opportunities and minimize reacting to what has already happened.

• Making crucial decisions by getting the best available information and is not surprised by new information that they should have known at the time of decision making

• Well prepared for important meetings by getting information soon enough, to think through the consequences before having to act.

• Spotting problems early enough that action can be taken before they create damage.

• Supported in creating a culture of respect, accountability and reducing resistance to change and helping teams embrace new ways to improve.

• Hearing back from people in a timely manner without having to remind them.

What will be the CoS responsible for?

Disciplined implementation of our quarterly and annual strategic plans

Corporate communications and raising our brand equity

Maintaining a talent pipeline and drive-up employee engagement

Managing relationships with the company’s key business partners and customers

Studying the forces that have an effect on the company’s strategy, such as academic research, medical advances, and the activity of competitors.

What will be the CoS be rewarded?

Your exposure to high-value and high-impact initiatives over 2-3 years will help you develop into a high-potential, future senior manager.

Foundational abilities

Well-developed project-management skills

Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including market dynamics, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape.

Ability to see what pressures the leader faces in pushing the company to change and to find ways to lessen them.

Ability to recognize which relationships are most important to the success of the leader’s agenda so as to assist in strengthening them.

Communication skills are crucial, to help refine the leader’s message and ensure that it is understood by the right audiences.

Organized and disciplined, showing attention to detail, and following up doggedly to ensure the right results.

You’ll need:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life sciences and business or economics

• Three to five years’ experience in sales, business, or marketing, working with senior leaders in global companies

• Excellent data analytics and research skills

• Exceptional oral and writing skills

Bonus points if:

You are fluent in business French

• You are good at networking and negotiations

• You have courage to speak your mind and back it up with credible rationale.
